A woman was seriously injured in the Spanish Quarter in Naples in the early hours of Saturday morning after being stabbed by her ex-boyfriend.

The woman, who is in her 30s, was rushed to hospital where she is currently receiving treatment for her injuries.

Her ex-boyfriend, a man in his 40s, was arrested by police shortly after the incident and has been charged with attempted murder.

According to reports, the incident occurred in the Via Speranzella area of the Spanish Quarter at around 1am.

The woman was reportedly walking home from work when she was attacked by her ex-boyfriend.

The attack is said to have been unprovoked, and the woman was stabbed multiple times in the stomach and chest.

The woman's screams for help alerted neighbors, who called the police. The police arrived on the scene shortly after and arrested the woman's ex-boyfriend.

The woman is currently receiving treatment for her injuries in hospital. Her condition is described as serious but stable.

The suspect is due to appear in court on Monday.
